The Tagansky District Court of Moscow has extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markarian, who is charged with insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, for two months. This was reported on September 3 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The blogger will stay in jail until November 9th. His lawyers said the investigation's motion was "unfounded." They asked the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions or house arrest.

In turn, Markarian stated that at the time of his arrest he was in the passenger seat, not in the trunk. He denied any intention to hide abroad.
