The United States has threatened new strikes against drug traffickers in Venezuela.
The United States will continue to target suspected drug traffickers in Venezuela. This was announced on September 3 by the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth.
"We have assets in the air, assets in the water, assets on ships, because this is a deadly serious mission for us, and it will not stop just at this strike," he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
He added that the United States will consider as its legitimate targets in the internal waters of Venezuela any other traffickers whom they recognize as drug terrorists.
On August 28, it was reported that the United States had sent at least seven ships and a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles to the shores of Venezuela. Tensions between the two countries have increased. It was also noted that most of the ships are equipped with Tomahawk missiles that can hit ground targets.
On September 2, it became known that the US military had destroyed a ship allegedly carrying drugs from Venezuela. It was noted that the Pentagon had to study the details of the incident. Later, Trump said that 11 people died as a result of the strike on the ship.
