The solar flare situation is rapidly normalizing
The surge in solar activity that has been observed since August 23 has been completed, and now the situation with solar flares is rapidly normalizing in the Sun. This was announced on September 3 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The surge in solar activity, which has been observed for almost 10 days since August 23, has been completed," the report says.
It is noted that since yesterday, there has been a sharp decrease in flares and a weakening of the centers of magnetic activity in the Sun. According to scientists, although there are still a large number of sunspots on the star, most of them no longer represent a source of energy.
"Most likely, increased background activity from low—level C flares will remain on the Sun for several more days, but if nothing extraordinary happens, it will disappear by the end of the week," the publication clarifies.
On August 29, a strong flare with a score of M1.0 occurred on the Sun, which qualified as "strong". Earlier, on August 25, the most powerful flare was recorded on the star since June 20 of this year. According to scientists, this was due to a sharp increase in solar activity, which is associated with the appearance of several large active centers on the visible side of the solar disk.
