Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Krasnodar Territory turned out to be the regions where the most pensioners live. Such data follows from the data of the Social Fund of the Russian Federation on Wednesday, September 3.

There are currently 3.04 million people of retirement age living in Moscow. Of these, there are twice as many women: 2.1 million against 967 thousand men, RIA Novosti found out based on statistics.

The Moscow Region has 1.97 million pensioners, and 1.6 million live in the Krasnodar Territory. The ratio of men and women remains the same.

St. Petersburg ranks fourth in terms of the number of pension recipients (1.5 million), while the Sverdlovsk Region ranks fifth (1.3 million).

The least number of people of retirement age turned out to be in Baikonur — only 5.2 thousand people live in this city. In the Nenets Autonomous District — a little more, 13.7 thousand. In the Chukotka Autonomous Region — 14.8 thousand.

Earlier, on September 1, Nikita Chaplin, a member of the State Duma's Budget and Taxes Committee, said that the state provides various special support measures for single pensioners in the Russian Federation. Thus, a single person aged 70 years and older is provided with 50 percent compensation for capital repairs, depending on the region, and 100 percent after reaching the age of 80.

Prior to that, on August 27, Alexey Govyrin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Small and medium-sized Enterprises, said that in 2026 pensions for the disabled, citizens over 80 years old, survivor's pensions and insurance pensions would be increased. He also noted that different payouts have their own dates.
