The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry spoke about alternative employment for workers of "crisis" car factories

Employees of the largest Russian automobile plants may be offered retraining in scarce specialties directly at the enterprise or internal rotation in adjacent workshops as an alternative employment due to the reduction of the working week, Sergei Katyrin, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia.

He added that it is also possible to open vacancies at infrastructure construction sites and in related industries (transport, municipal machinery, instrumentation).

"It is important that these solutions allow people not to lose their qualifications, and enterprises to retain the core of specialists," says the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Therefore, the expert is convinced, it is quite realistic to preserve the teams of car factories today, because with flexible schedules and targeted government support, there will be no mass exodus of personnel from the industry.

According to Katyrin, support measures should be combined with targeted employment work today in order not to lose production and supply chains.

Earlier, in an interview with TASS, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said that the authorities were monitoring the fulfillment of social obligations to car factories, which had switched to a shortened schedule due to the crisis in the national auto industry. He said that the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with the management of automobile enterprises, are working to select alternative employment options for the "released" days to offset losses in workers' incomes.
