Russia will help China overtake the United States in installed nuclear power plant capacity

Russia will help the People's Republic of China (PRC) in the race with the United States in the installed capacity of nuclear power plants. This was announced on September 2 by the head of the General director of the state corporation Rosatom Alexei Likhachev.

"China has ambitious plans for the development of nuclear energy. The task has been set to catch up and overtake the United States of America in installed capacity," Likhachev told Rossiya—1 TV channel.

It is noted that China intends to reach a capacity exceeding 100 gigawatts.

According to Likhachev, as part of China's assistance, Russia has created four nuclear reactors with a capacity of more than a gigawatt, and it is also planned to produce four more mechanisms.
