On September 3, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Apostle Otto Thaddeus. According to legend, he aspired to spiritual truth from his youth. One day, during a trip to Jerusalem, the future apostle heard John the Theologian preach about the coming of the Savior. Impressed by his words, Thaddeus was baptized. Subsequently, he became one of the closest disciples of Christ and became one of the 70 apostles sent to different cities to preach.

After the Ascension of the Lord, Thaddeus continued to preach in Syria and Mesopotamia. He became famous as a miracle worker and educator, who founded several church communities.

Also on September 3, believers remember the icon of the Mother of God called "Svetopisannaya". This image was revealed in 1903 in the Russian Athos at St. Panteleimon Monastery. During the regular distribution of alms at the gates of the monastery, Monk Gabriel took a photograph showing the silhouette of the Virgin humbly standing in line for bread among the poor. Prior to this, the monastery's management ordered to stop distributing bread, as there were too many drunkards and other people who did not want to work among those in need. However, after the appearance of the Mother of God in the picture, the tradition was preserved. And in 2003, with the blessing of Abbot Archimandrite Jeremiah, the icon "Svetopisannaya" was painted, repeating the image of the Virgin Mary from the legendary photo.
