Chernyshenko noted the potential of the Russian Federation and China for a twofold increase in tourist traffic

As part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Russia and China signed an agreement to expand humanitarian cooperation with a focus on science, education, culture, sports and tourism. Russia and China have the potential to double the tourist flow. This was announced to Izvestia on September 2 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

He noted that the tourist flow has reached about 70% of the pre-peak level with more than 230 weekly flights.

"There is a potential for double growth, including at the expense of the Chinese side, since more than half of the 2.7 million Russian tourists go to China," he said.
