The floods affected millions of people in the region and became the largest in the history of Punjab province. According to PDMA, 33 people were killed and eight others were injured from August 23 to 31. 506 humanitarian camps were set up for the victims, 760,000 people and 516,000 animals were evacuated.
"This is the largest flood in Punjab's history," said Mariam Aurangzeb, a senior minister in the Punjab government, highlighting the record rise in water levels.
The National Emergency Management Agency warns of new monsoon rains from September 1 to 3, which may increase the risk of flooding in Islamabad and other areas of the province.
Earlier, on August 20, eight people were reported dead as a result of heavy rains in Karachi, Pakistan. It was noted that electricity and Internet were cut off for several hours in several areas, and most of the houses were flooded.
