Russia confirms its full support and solidarity with the Venezuelan authorities. This was announced on September 1 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry following a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Russia Jose Rogelio Salazar Velasquez.

"The Russian side has confirmed its full support and solidarity with the Bolivarian authorities in protecting national sovereignty," the statement said.

The Russian side also strongly condemned the use of political and military pressure on independent states.

In turn, the Ambassador reported on Caracas' efforts to maintain internal stability against the background of external threats.

During the conversation, the sides also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on August 28 that the US Navy had sent at least seven ships and a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles to the shores of Venezuela. It is specified that a nuclear high-speed attack submarine was also deployed. According to the newspaper, the US actions have led to increased tensions in relations with Venezuela and other Latin American countries.

On August 30, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto thanked Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), for supporting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
