Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Friday, September 5. Izvestia is broadcasting the event live.

Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Songsai Siphandon, Prime Minister of Mongolia Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar, and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Hongzhong are also taking part in the discussion.

The jubilee Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 3-6 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. This year, the main theme of the forum is "The Far East: cooperation for peace and prosperity."

In his greeting to the participants, organizers and guests of the X WEF, Putin noted that over the past decade the WEF has rightfully earned a high reputation. He specified that this event helps to introduce businesses, including foreign ones, to the unique economic, scientific, technological and infrastructural potential of the Russian Far Eastern territories and promotes the expansion of multifaceted international cooperation.
