Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto decided to listen to the slogans of the protesters and canceled the allowances for parliamentarians, which became one of the reasons for thousands of protests in Jakarta.

"In response to the sincere requests of the people, I received information from the chairmen of the parties that they have taken decisive measures against members of parliament, starting on Monday, September 1, 2025, against those deputies who could make false statements," he said on the official website of the president.

He also imposed a moratorium on foreign business trips of members of parliament.
