Spouses from Ukraine earned $525 thousand on benefits for refugees in the Czech Republic

A Ukrainian couple earned 11 million crowns (about 42 million rubles) by bringing compatriots to the Czech Republic, collecting their benefits, and then taking them back. This was reported on August 29 by the Novinsky news portal with reference to the press secretary of the regional court in the city of Brno, Klara Belkovova.

Ivan Savarin and Kristina Savchinova recruited compatriots in Ukraine, put them in their van and brought them to the Czech Republic. Then they assisted Ukrainians in obtaining a residence permit and benefits. Immediately after that, the couple took the Ukrainians to their homeland and kept their cash payments for themselves.

The couple managed to steal from the Czech state in this way for about one year, during which they managed to bring 830 people to the Czech Republic. .

The publication notes that the spouses themselves did not live in the Czech Republic, but came only for the sake of fraud. They were detained during one of their trips. Now the couple faces a sentence of four years in prison, and they are also required to return all criminally obtained funds.
