Turkologist and political scientist Stanislav Tarasov died at the age of 72. His wife informed Izvestia about this on August 29.

From 1979 to 1991, Tarasov worked for Gosteleradio of the USSR and was on business trips to Afghanistan 12 times, later he worked for a number of major political publications, covered the political landscape of Turkey, Transcaucasia and the Middle East. He was fluent in Turkish and Farsi. For his work, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Battle and a number of Afghan medals.
