A high-ranking officer of the Estonian special forces who fought as part of the Special Operations Forces (SSO) has been eliminated in Sumy region The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on August 29 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"A high—ranking officer of the Estonian special forces, Olev Rust, born on 04/27/1988, was eliminated in the Sumy region," TASS cites the text of the message.

It is specified that Rust volunteered for Ukraine in 2023, joining the 3rd regiment of the SDF. The officer participated in NATO's overseas operations in Afghanistan in 2011 and 2013, was selected for the Estonian MTR in 2017 and participated in the operation in Mali in 2020.

The security forces added that the Estonian mercenary was probably eliminated as a result of a massive strike a week ago.
