Scammers contact teenagers on social networks, games, and chat rooms to deceive them. This was reported on August 29 in the Telegram channel of the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"They introduce themselves as a "courier", "tech support" or "teacher". They create an urgent situation: "account is blocked," "delivery error," the message says.

After that, the attackers resort to pressure and isolation, the department noted. So, they allegedly involve an investigator and threaten to arrest the parents. To do this, the scammers transfer communication to Telegram and forbid talking to the family.

Subsequently, the scammers force the teenager to take actions, for example, they say: "transfer money to a secure account," "go through verification," "declare funds." After the scammers receive the money, they disappear, and the child is left alone with panic and consequences.

"No official authority requires money or codes over the phone. Talk to the children. Explain: if you're scared, call your parents," the Interior Ministry stressed.

Earlier, on August 27, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that fraudsters began to use the need to update or link a phone number to an electronic diary to steal funds from Russians. It clarifies that the attackers contact the victims using messengers and introduce themselves as employees of educational institutions or technical support services.
