The new fee of 500 rubles for passing a technical inspection, which will be introduced on September 1, will be paid by drivers who come to check the car, and not by the inspection operators. This was reported by Kommersant on August 28, citing an explanation from the Russian Interior Ministry.
According to the approved wording of the Tax Code, the fee will be charged for entering information into the Unified Automated Information Inspection System (UAISTO). The Ministry of Internal Affairs when issuing a diagnostic card. The publication notes that this rule raised questions among businesses, since it was not clear from the wording who exactly would have to pay this fee.
Since 2021, individual owners of passenger cars are required to undergo a technical inspection when re—registering cars older than four years and when making changes to the design. For all other cases, the inspection is voluntary.
Earlier, on August 20, it was reported that the minimum allowable price for the technical inspection of a passenger car from 2026 may increase from 913 rubles to 1.3 thousand rubles. The FAS press service explained that changes to the methodology for calculating inspection tariffs are still under discussion, and the draft document is being finalized, including taking into account accumulated inflation.
