Hungary has banned the commander of the Ukrainian military unit responsible for the attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline from entering the country and the territory of the Schengen area. This was announced on August 28 by the country's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

"In response to another Ukrainian strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline, the Hungarian government decided to ban the commander of the military unit responsible for the strike from entering Hungary and the entire Schengen area," he wrote on the social network X (former. Twitter).

According to Szijjarto, the strike on the oil pipeline was an attack on Hungary's sovereignty, which jeopardized the country's energy security and "actually forced it to use strategic reserves."

He added that Ukraine was aware of the importance of Druzhba for the energy supply of Hungary and Slovakia, as well as the effect of the strikes. The minister stressed that such actions cause Hungary "much more harm than Russia."

Szijjarto also promised to respond to all those who "encroach on the energy security and sovereignty" of his country.

Szijjarto reported on August 22 that the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, was again attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the incident, oil supplies to Hungary were suspended. Later, on August 28, it became known that the oil supply through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia had resumed.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on August 26 that he was unable to understand the purpose of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attacks on the country's oil infrastructure. He described the attacks by the Ukrainian military on the Druzhba oil pipeline as "bad intentions."

Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia, called the attack pure banditry. She stressed that in international law such activities are classified as terrorist.
