Over the past day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has destroyed several tunnels of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas near the city of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip. This was announced on August 28 by the army press service.
"Over the past 24 hours, troops have destroyed several underground routes that were used by Hamas in the Jabalia area," the IDF Telegram channel says.
They added that the Israeli army continues its operation in Khan Yunis in order to establish operational control over the Magen Oz corridor connecting the eastern and western parts of the city.
On August 24, Al-Mayadeen journalist Mahmoud Alawadia told Izvestia that the Jabalia al-Nazla area was under intense Israeli artillery fire. According to him, residents have to leave their homes en masse, fleeing from shelling and attacks by the IDF. The territory adjacent to Jabalia al-Nazla district is classified as a "red zone".
On August 20, the Israel Defense Forces launched an offensive on the city of Gaza. In preparation for the capture operation, the IDF called up 60,000 troops from the reserve and extended the service life of 20,000 reservists. The operation was called "Gideon's Chariots – 2".
