On August 27, German climber Gunther Sigmund, a member of Natalia Nagovitsyna's climbing group, told Izvestia how the team ascended Pobeda Peak and tried to save Natalia.

Sigmund noted that he, Natalia and another member of the group, Roman, began climbing the peak at midnight, and Italian Luca Sinigaglia, who was also part of the team, returned to the camp located in a snow cave some time later due to pain in his fingers. The German reached the top in five hours and became the only one of the group who was able to do so.

During the descent, the weather deteriorated sharply, and he decided to return to the cave where the Italian climber was staying. Later, Roman reported Nagovitsyna's broken ankle, and Sigmund and Sinigaglia decided to go to Natalia's aid.

"We went and eventually found Natasha. <...> So we started putting up a tent for her. It was the tent she used to sleep in with Roman," he said.

He clarified that the most reasonable solution was to spend the night in a tent. According to him, the climbers did not have sleeping bags and mats with them, so they had to use ropes and backpacks to insulate the ground. Later, as Sigmund noted, they left Natalia with supplies that should have been enough for 4-5 days.

The accident that happened to the climber became known on August 19. Izvestia was told by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan that 47-year-old Nagovitsyna broke her leg and remained at the peak of Victory in conditions of almost "zero visibility." A helicopter was involved in the operations, which crashed.

Later, on August 22, the ministry noted that the operations launched to rescue the Russian woman had been suspended due to bad weather conditions, as well as due to the deteriorating health of the head of the rescue operation. In addition, rescue climber Bair Batuev, who participated in the operation to rescue Nagovitsyna, reported that no one had been rescued since Victory Peak.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
