The Tbilisi City Court has seized the accounts of seven non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that financed the riots in Georgia in 2024. This was announced on August 27 by the country's Prosecutor General's Office.

They noted that the funds financed the purchase of gas masks, goggles, masks and pepper spray for the protesters, and also openly called for civil disobedience, paying fines to the protesters and providing them with protection in court.

"The provision of special funds for the participants of the action for violent actions against law enforcement officers was carried out in a coordinated manner, including by means of non—governmental organizations," TASS reports the text of the statement of the Prosecutor General's Office.

In 2024, mass protests took place in Georgia caused by the suspension of negotiations on European integration and the opposition's disagreement with the results of the parliamentary elections held in late October, the results of which were refused by former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

In March of this year, participants in an anti-government protest in Georgia fired fireworks at the parliament building. Zurabishvili was present at the rally. She addressed the participants and supported them, pointing out the need to fight the "illegitimate government."
