The State Duma announced new fines for the transfer of SIM cards from September 1.
Starting from September 1, a law will come into force in Russia that imposes fines for transferring SIM cards to third parties, including friends or colleagues. This was announced on August 27 by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project.
"The law is not aimed at limiting everyday situations. Parents can still buy a SIM card for their child, adult children for elderly parents, and so on. But buying a SIM card for yourself and giving it to a friend, colleague or neighbor is already a violation for which you may face a fine in the future," TASS quoted Nemkin as saying.
