Since Victory Peak, where Natalia Nagovitsyna, a Russian climber who broke her leg, was waiting for help, no one has yet been able to save anyone. This place is specific and the chances of a successful rescue operation were practically nonexistent. This was announced to Izvestia on August 27 by rescue climber Bair Batuev, who participated in the rescue operation.

Batuev is currently in the hospital — his ship made a hard landing, and the climber suffered a compression fracture of the spine.

Batuev clarified that he and other members of their volunteer rescue team knew Natalia as an "old acquaintance", as they had previously crossed paths in the mountains.

According to him, their flight, which also carried other tourists and relatives of the previously deceased climbers, took off at 07:00 on August 16. After the ship made a number of stops, only the members of the rescue team remained in it, who survived the crash a few tens of minutes later.

"Preparations have already begun (for boarding. — Ed.), our backpacks were inside the helicopter fuselage. <...> And at that moment, <...> there turns out to be a sharp drop at the edge of the icefall, and we begin to walk away to the edge of the icefall, and we begin to spin sharply. The carousel has already started like this, and I don't remember who shouted, we're falling, get ready to fall. But it happened literally in a matter of seconds, a moment of some kind. Whirled, whirled. It was a strong blow," he said.

Batuev noted that the area where Nagovitsyna was stuck is "very treacherous", and the mountain itself is famous for its "severity" — the natural object is very large-scale: the ridge has a height of 3 km and is "sloping", in addition, it is covered with deep snow, which resembles ice in its condition. Therefore, it was necessary to fly there in a very large train, for example, numbering 20 people. However, even representatives of such a delegation could make a mistake there and die, the source believes.

The climber suggested that Nagovitsyna was not ready to climb to this height. He clarified that Natalia had previously conquered similar heights with professional guides, but this time she decided to go there on her own.

"Was she ready to Win? I'll say no. Definitely not, even though they went out, they had it all happen on the way back," he summed up.

The accident that happened to the climber became known on August 19. Izvestia was told by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan that 47-year-old Nagovitsyna broke her leg and remained at the peak of Victory in conditions of almost "zero visibility." A helicopter was involved in the operations, which crashed.

Later, on August 22, the ministry noted that the operations initiated to rescue the Russian woman were suspended due to bad weather conditions, as well as due to the deteriorating health of the head of the rescue operation.
