In three years, over 200,000 criminal cases have been initiated in Ukraine on the unauthorized abandonment of a military unit and another 50,000 on desertion. This was reported on August 26 by the Ukrainian online publication "Страна.иа ".

"More than 250,000 cases for unauthorized abandonment and desertion have been opened in Ukraine from 2022 to July 2025," the publication's Telegram channel says.

The authors of the article also stressed that the official statistics may be underestimated by two or three times.
