48 people were detained in Spain on suspicion of arson of forests.

In Spain, 48 people were arrested on suspicion of setting fires in forests, another 134 are under investigation. This was reported on August 26 by the Europa Press news agency with reference to the country's Interior Ministry.

"The Ministry of the Interior has increased the number of people detained on suspicion of involvement in various forest fires that occurred this summer in Spain to 48 people, and the number of people being investigated by the Civil Guard and the national police to 134 people," the newspaper writes.

Since the beginning of June, the Civil Guard has detained 36 people and launched an investigation into another 110. The police, in turn, detained 12 people and charged 24.

Earlier, on August 13, it was reported that dozens of people were injured as a result of forest fires in Spain, four of them are in critical condition. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on the social network X (ex. Twitter) stated that the situation with forest fires in the country remains serious and urged citizens to be careful.
