From the very beginning, the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has been in contact with the son of climber Natalia Nagovitsina, who was stuck on Victory Peak. This was reported to Izvestia on August 26 by the press service of the diplomatic mission.

"From the very beginning, the embassy has been in direct contact with Natalia's son," they noted.

According to the press service, as soon as it became known about the tragedy, the Russian Embassy promptly contacted the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic in order to organize a rescue operation. However, at the moment, rescue work has been stopped due to weather conditions.

The fact that 47-year-old Nagovitsina was stuck on Victory Peak was reported on August 19. The athlete broke her leg during the descent. She has been at altitude for about two weeks now. On August 23, it became known that the Italian climber Luca Sinigaglia, who tried to save Nagovitsina, frostbitten his right hand and subsequently died of cerebral edema. At the same time, the head of the mountaineering base camp, Dmitry Grekov, announced the completion of the rescue operation for the climber at that time. Kyrgyz climber Nail Muratov noted that evacuation attempts may resume no earlier than July 2026.

Also on August 26, Nagovitsina's son Mikhail asked Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General, and the Russian Foreign Ministry to help save his mother. Later, the Investigative Committee announced the beginning of an investigation into the incident with the Russian climber.
