Footage of the search for Russian Nikolai Svechnikov, who went missing during a swim in the Turkish Bosphorus Strait, was made available to Izvestia on August 25.

The video shows the boat, which, previously, participates in the search for the Russian.

Alyona, a relative of the missing swimmer, had previously reported that divers had also begun searching for Svechnikov. In addition, a rescue helicopter will be involved in the operation tomorrow.

Svechnikov's disappearance became known earlier that day. A professional swimmer did not reach the finish line when swimming across the Bosphorus in Istanbul. After swimming 500-600 m, the athlete disappeared from sight. According to one version, Svechnikov could have experienced a leg cramp and was carried away by the current. Honored Master of Sports, world record holder in swimming Nikolai Skvortsov also suggested that the man could have been swept away by the current.

The wife of the missing swimmer Antonina, in turn, expressed her intention to request a video of Svechnikov's full swim. She also clarified that she was going to contact the prosecutor's office and get a written opinion from the consulate about which forces were involved in the search. Later, the Istanbul authorities announced the beginning of an investigation into the causes and circumstances of Svechnikov's disappearance.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
