Antonina, the wife of swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov, who disappeared in the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey, is going to request a video of the swim from the organizers. She informed Izvestia about this on August 25.

The girl clarified that she had not contacted the organizer, but was going to visit him after visiting the consulate.

She also noted that the Turkish authorities had indicated their intention to make every effort to find her spouse. According to Antonina, the organizers also expressed their intention to make every effort.

"But now I want to get a written opinion from the consulate about which forces were involved. Also, contact the prosecutor's office, find an organizer to provide a video of the swim as the legal representative of my spouse," she clarified.

Svechnikov's disappearance became known earlier that day. A professional swimmer did not reach the finish line when swimming across the Bosphorus in Istanbul. After swimming 500-600 m, the athlete disappeared from sight. According to one version, Svechnikov could have experienced a leg cramp and was carried away by the current. The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul reported on maintaining contact with the Turkish authorities, as well as sending an official request to the competent authorities.

Honored Master of Sports, world record holder in swimming Nikolai Skortsov also suggested that the man could have been swept away by the current. According to him, such long-distance swims are always dangerous and involve many risks.
