After the news of an unknown shooter appeared, the University of South Carolina was evacuated, but representatives of the educational institution did not confirm the information about the shooting. This was reported on August 24 by CNN.

"We have received an unconfirmed report of a shooter in the Thomas Cooper Library. At the moment, we have no injuries and there is no confirmation that there really was a shooter in the library," said Jeff Stensland, a university spokesman.

It is noted that ambulance crews are helping several students who suffered minor injuries during the evacuation.

At the same time, earlier in the social network X, the university's notification service itself reported the presence of the shooter and even provided a description of the suspect: "a 180 cm tall white man in black trousers."

Currently, police officers continue to inspect the territory of the educational institution.

On August 9, three people were injured in a shooting near Times Square in New York, USA. An 18-year-old girl and two men aged 19 and 65. The police took one suspect into custody.
