Three formations of the Southern Military District were awarded the Orders of Zhukov and Suvorov in Volgograd

A ceremony of awarding the Orders of Zhukov and Suvorov to the 37th Railway Brigade, the 2nd Artillery Brigade and the repair and evacuation regiment of the Southern Military District took place on the territory of the Battle of Stalingrad Panorama Museum in Volgograd. This was announced on August 25 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The state awards were presented for the dedication and courage shown by the military personnel in the units. The event was conducted by the Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District, Lieutenant General Vladimir Kochetkov, in the presence of military personnel.

"On behalf of the commander of the Southern Military District, Colonel-General Alexander S. Sanchik, and the members of the Military Council of the Southern Military District, I congratulate you on these high awards," Kochetkov said.

He also wished the fighters health, well-being and new achievements for the benefit of their native country. According to him, their exploits are a vivid manifestation of courage and heroism.

In addition, state and departmental awards were presented to military personnel who distinguished themselves during combat missions in the area of a special military operation.

"From the first days of the beginning of the SVO, the units and military units of the [37th Railway] brigade have been performing special tasks. More than 400 military personnel have been awarded state awards," Unit commander Vadim Lukanov said.

He sent congratulations to all the military ensigns, officers, and veterans of the brigade. According to him, the award ceremony was a significant day for the union.

In turn, Alexander Kalinichenko, a serviceman of the 10th repair and evacuation regiment of the Southern Military District, wished the soldiers good luck, happiness and well-being in their families.

On May 18, an award ceremony was held in the SVO zone for servicemen of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Zapad group of Forces for successfully completing tasks in the Krasnolimansk direction. More than 30 servicemen received medals for Bravery, Zhukov and Suvorov, as well as St. George Crosses of the IV degree.

On April 10, a solemn ceremony of awarding the Orders of Suvorov and Zhukov to the 11th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade for heroism, courage and bravery took place in Ulan-Ude. In total, more than 4,500 military personnel of the unit were awarded state and departmental awards, and six paratroopers were awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
