Karasin allowed meetings with congressmen at the UN General Assembly in New York in September

The Russian delegation is ready to hold a meeting with parliamentarians from the United States during a visit to the UN headquarters in New York in September, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin told Izvestia.

"There were no such meetings in previous years. But a lot has changed this year, and we met with the Americans in Riyadh, and there were meetings between Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov and [Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation] Yuri Viktorovich Ushakov with American partners. Therefore, it seems to me that such meetings are quite likely," he said.

The Russian delegation, which will participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, will be headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The delegation included Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, and Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
