Doctor Desyatkova called IVM the most gentle IVF method
The in vitro maturation (IVM) method allows IVF to be performed without hormonal stimulation, which makes the procedure safer and faster. About this on August 24, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by obstetrician-gynecologist, reproductologist of the European Medical Center (EMC) Nina Desyatkova.
"IVM differs from the standard IVF program in that hormone therapy is not required for follicle growth. This makes the procedure more convenient and faster," the doctor explained.
According to her, the method is especially suitable for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), who have a high risk of complications from hormone therapy.
"IVM is also recommended for patients with contraindications to hormonal stimulation, for example, hormone-dependent tumors. This approach helps to quickly preserve fertility before starting treatment," added Desyatkova.
The method can also help women with low ovarian response to stimulation, risk of thromboembolism, or "empty follicle syndrome," when standard egg collection is ineffective.
Earlier, on July 13, Ilya Volodyaev, Candidate of Biological Sciences, senior researcher at the Department of Embryology, Faculty of Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, embryologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), spoke about the myth associated with IVF and the development of cancer in women. He noted that this is due to public opinion and people's fear of taking hormonal drugs.
