Blogger Arsen Markaryan, who was detained on suspicion of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, was taken to the investigative department. This was reported by a correspondent of Izvestia on August 23.

Markaryan is suspected of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland committed using mass media or information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet").

When asked if he agreed with the suspicions, Markarian categorically refused.

In addition, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that Markarian will be checked for involvement in other crimes against public security and government authorities committed on the Internet.

It is specified that the blogger was detained in the Moscow region.

The blogger's detention was reported earlier in the day by the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation. It was clarified that Markarian posted a video on one of the video hosting sites that contained insults to the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. Later, the person involved was put on the wanted list.

Earlier, on March 16, it became known that a pre-investigation check had been launched against the blogger after his statements calling for terrorism. Markarian stated that attacks on Russian facilities and civilians should be carried out using drones.
