A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of the Zapad group of forces had actively liberated the village of Severnoye in the DPR. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the group's area of responsibility amounted to more than 230 military personnel, seven electronic warfare stations and five ammunition depots, four armored combat vehicles, including the French VAB armored personnel carrier, as well as the American MaxxPro armored car and the HMMWV armored fighting vehicle. In addition, an artillery piece and 14 vehicles were destroyed.

The southern group of troops liberated the settlement of Kleban-Byk in the DPR. In the combat zone of this grouping, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost over 210 military personnel, a tank, seven vehicles, six ammunition and materiel depots, five armored combat vehicles and a field artillery piece.

In addition, drone strike operators, rocket troops, artillery and aircraft struck an enterprise of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, temporary locations of armed formations and foreign mercenaries of the enemy in 143 districts.

Four guided aerial bombs and 160 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 665 aircraft, 24,741 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 79,150 unmanned aerial vehicles, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 28,845 field artillery and mortars, 283 helicopters, 1,588 multiple rocket launchers, 40,259 units of special military vehicles have been eliminated.
