- Trump announced the transfer of 10% of Intel shares under the control of the United States
The United States has established control over 10% of Intel Corporation shares. This was announced on August 22 by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on his Truth Social network.
"I am honored to announce that the United States now fully owns and controls 10% of Intel, a great American company with an even more impressive future," he wrote.
According to Trump, he personally negotiated the deal with the corporation's CEO Lip-Boo Tan. He stressed that the United States "did not pay anything" for receiving shares, and currently the value of these assets is about $11 billion.
"This is a good deal for both America and Intel. The production of advanced semiconductors and microchips, which Intel is engaged in, is of fundamental importance for the future of our country," he said.
Bloomberg learned about the plans of the US administration to buy a stake in Intel on August 14. The talks kicked off after President Trump called for Tan's resignation. At the same time, the company's management declined to comment on the discussions.
On August 8, the head of the corporation said that Intel's management continues to contact the Trump administration. Tan recalled that the company's success is critically important for the technological and industrial leadership of the United States, as well as for the national security and economic strength of the country.
