British Foreign Minister David Lammy was formally warned for fishing without a license with US Vice President Jay Dee Vance. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on August 22.

"David Lammy received an official warning after he informed US Vice President Jay Dee Vance about his illegal fishing without a license," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, Lammy had not previously wanted to be held accountable, but later he received an official warning. It clarifies that the first reaction of the Environmental Protection Agency is to issue a recommendation or warning, but not to initiate legal proceedings, especially in cases involving inexperienced fishermen.

It is noted that Lammy later bought a fishing rod license. This was done to prevent a similar situation in the future.

Sky News reported on August 13 that Lammy could have been fined 2.5 thousand pounds (about $3.4 thousand) for fishing with Vance without a fishing rod license. It is specified that their meeting took place on August 8. Vance and his family spent two days at Lammy's during their summer vacation. Following the meeting, he described the British Foreign Secretary as "a good friend and a very kind host."
