Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, explained why a dog can howl to music.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, August 22, the specialist noted that a pet can demonstrate vocal abilities from boredom, loneliness or even pain, but not always.

According to Golubev, if a dog "sings along" to the music and at the same time looks cheerful, most often there is no cause for alarm. There are several reasons for this behavior. First, instinct is at work: the ancestors of dogs communicated by howling, and some melodies resemble the sounds of a pack. Secondly, animals can respond to certain frequencies: their hearing picks up what is inaccessible to humans. Sometimes singing is associated with discomfort, but then the dog shows other signs of anxiety.

Pets can also "sing" from an excess of emotions, loneliness or stress, and sometimes just for the company of their owner, perceiving the process as a game. This is often explained by curiosity: the sounds of instruments arouse interest and joy. Experts clarify that in rare cases, vocalization may be associated with illness, so it is important to monitor the general condition of the dog. But if the animal shows interest and looks pleased, such behavior is considered normal.

Dog handlers advise to avoid too loud and harsh sounds. Research shows that well-chosen music helps reduce stress in dogs. They especially like soft rock, pop, reggae and classical music.

On August 21, veterinarian and dog handler Vladimir Urazhevsky told NSN that films for dogs are very useful for the socialization of animals, as well as when they are left alone at home without an owner. According to him, such tapes are useful for socialization, especially for puppies and dogs with sensitive minds. Such videos were shot taking into account the specifics of canine vision and hearing, providing a pleasant perception of sounds and pictures by animals. 360.ru . The expert recalled that it is important for animals to leave light or radio on, and films can be additional support — similar projects already exist for cats.

On August 15, Golubev explained why the dog hunts for sneakers and socks. So, a pet's interest in certain objects is usually related to the owner's reaction. When a dog takes away a slipper or sock, the owners tend to return it, and this is perceived by the animal as a game, which encourages it to repeat such actions.

On August 5, Golubev said that a dog during puberty can become aggressive and react worse to commands due to a hormonal surge. In an interview with the Moscow City News agency, the expert noted that usually small dogs enter adolescence earlier, while large dogs enter later. For some, the first changes can be noticed as early as six months, for others — only by the year.
