On August 22, Russian cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Alexey Zubritsky and Oleg Platonov recorded a congratulatory video on the occasion of the National Flag Day of the Russian Federation aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

"Dear compatriots! From aboard the ISS, we congratulate you on the Day of the National Flag of Russia. The white-blue-red colors recognizable all over the world have long gone beyond the Earth and are represented here on board the ISS," said Ryzhikov.

Zubritsky noted that the Russian flag preserves the unity of almost 200 different peoples inhabiting the Russian Federation. Striving forward, strength and unity are the qualities that have helped the country preserve its own sovereignty for centuries. He shared that for cosmonauts, the tricolor on board the ISS is also a reminder of their Homeland, family, and everything that made their flight into outer space possible.

"Today, the All-Russian action "Under one flag" is taking place in our country. Both on Earth and in space, we live under the same flag, we win sports under the same flag, and we fly into space under the same flag," Platonov said.

The astronauts concluded their congratulations with a joint message: "Happy holidays!"

A day earlier, on the eve of the holiday, Vladimir Shapovalov, a member of the Russian Association of Political Consultants and project manager of the EISI, noted that the tricolor is a symbol that historically unites the inhabitants of the country.

On April 7, Vasily Prokofiev, Director of the Central Bank's Cash Circulation Department, announced that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation was considering adding the image of the Russian flag to new banknotes. Expert suggestions will be taken into account when developing a new version of the banknotes.
