An American F/A-18D Hornet fighter jet has exploded at the Kuantan Airbase in Malaysia. This was reported by the New Straits Times (NST) on August 21.
"The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has confirmed an incident involving an F/A-18D Hornet at Kuantan Air Base," the publication said.
It is noted that measures have been taken. Both pilots managed to eject.
Earlier, on March 15, a fighter jet of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) crashed in the southern Chinese province of Hainan during exercises. It is noted that the pilot was able to successfully eject with a parachute. The reasons for the incident are being investigated.
