The presence of foreign troops in Ukraine is completely unacceptable for Russia. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar.

"As the discussions between the West and the Ukrainian side are now showing, all these plans are connected, in fact, with the provision of guarantees through foreign military intervention in some part of Ukrainian territory," the Russian minister said.

He also noted that such an outcome is unacceptable for the Russian Federation and "for all sane countries in Europe."

On August 19, Bloomberg reported that about 10 countries had expressed their willingness to send troops to Ukraine as part of providing possible security guarantees for Kiev. It is noted that this was clarified during the summit of European officials. The meeting was devoted to a plan for the possible deployment of French and British troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. During the conversation, the number of estimated forces and the location of military personnel were also discussed.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump noted the desire of France, Germany and Britain to deploy troops in Ukraine. The American leader noted that while he holds his post as head of state, there will be no United States troops in Ukraine.
