The center for countering foreign influence FMIC was closed in the USA
The Director of National Intelligence of the United States, Tulsi Gabbard, has closed the Center for Countering Foreign Influence (FMIC), which previously accused Russia of influencing United States policy. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on August 20.
"As part of these changes, the agency will reduce the Center for Malicious Influence Abroad, which collects and analyzes data on foreign influence operations aimed at undermining democracy in the United States," the publication said.
It is noted that the National Intelligence Council and the National Center for Counterintelligence and Security are already carrying out this work, and the FMIC is being used "to justify the suppression of freedom of speech and censorship of the political opposition."
According to the newspaper, FMIC worked closely with the State Department's Global Engagement Center, which was closed due to censorship allegations.
Earlier, on August 8, it was reported that the US administration canceled Biden's $7 billion solar energy program. It is noted that the Environmental Protection Agency has lost its legal authority to administer a project aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
