- The FAR told about the rescue of the mountain climber Nagovitsyna stuck in the mountains
In the event of a favorable development, the rescue of Natalia Nagovitsina, a Russian mountaineer stuck on Victory Peak in Kyrgyzstan, may take from three to five days. Alexander Yakovenko, Chairman of the Commission on Classical mountaineering of the Russian Mountaineering Federation (FAR), told Izvestia on August 20.
"Today, the second day, four people are trying to get there. Four people are walking after three days of bad weather. So it's an avalanche hazard, it's a big challenge. It is unknown whether they will reach there or not. There is a small chance that they will make it. But that means three, four, maybe five more days," he said.
At the same time, Yakovenko stressed that there is a risk that rescuers themselves will be caught in an avalanche. He noted that the mountain that the Russian woman was trying to conquer is seven thousand meters high and "the most serious mountain."
According to the chairman, one should be prepared for "any troubles" that may arise during this situation.
The fact that 47-year-old Nagovitsyna was stuck at Victory Peak was reported on August 19 in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. She broke her leg during the descent and has been at altitude for a week. It was noted that the woman's partner gave her first aid and went for help.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic reported that a group of rescuers had been sent to the woman's location. The team consists of four people. It will take her three days to reach it, and the same amount of time to return, but weather conditions may make it difficult for them to travel.
On August 20, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, Adil Chargynov, said that reports of Nagovitsyna's death were unsubstantiated assumptions. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, also said that the ministry had established close contact with the embassy in Bishkek to rescue the climber.
