Pollution of the Mediterranean Sea near the Turkish city of Alanya threatens both marine life and public health. This was reported by the Yeni Alanya newspaper on August 20.

According to associate professor of the Mediterranean University Guraya Dogan, pollution near the coast is associated not only with tourist activity, but also with the ingress of agricultural waste and climate change, leading to an increase in microbes that can cause vomiting, nausea and fever in tourists.

In addition, as the Newspaper clarifies.Ru", the consequences can be observed in the bays on the west coast, which will lead to serious losses in the tourism sector.

As Dogan noted, it is possible to prevent a disaster in time if the tourism industry and agriculture take measures together. According to the associate professor, the situation may worsen next year. In this regard, Turkish environmentalists offer various solutions to the problem of pollution, including the creation of educational programs to increase environmental awareness of citizens in the province.

Earlier, on January 24, Bangkok authorities closed more than 350 schools and announced free public transport for a week due to extremely high levels of air pollution. It was clarified that the problem was caused by a combination of cold and stagnant winter air with smoke from burning agricultural residues and car exhaust fumes.
