A criminal case has been opened in the Kemerovo region in connection with the fire at a shopping center. This was announced on August 20 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

They noted that a report of a fire in one of the shopping malls in the city of Kemerovo was received by law enforcement agencies earlier that day.

"On this fact, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers")," the agency's Telegram channel says.

The Investigative Committee of Russia clarified that the fire has been eliminated at the moment. The people who were in the building of the shopping center were evacuated.
