The political scientist predicted difficulties for Israel with a new operation in Gaza

Israel may have difficulties during Operation Gideon's Chariots 2 to capture Gaza City. This was stated to Izvestia on August 20 by political analyst Dmitry Brije.

"The Israeli—approved Gideon's Chariot 2 plan to capture Gaza is an ambitious but extremely difficult operation. Yes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have numerical and technical superiority, but the urban environment, dense buildings and an extensive network of tunnels make the capture of the entire city a slow and costly process," the expert said.

Brydje noted that the Israeli forces will have to act in stages: first, it is necessary to evacuate residents and create humanitarian zones, and then gradually move forward with the support of aviation and artillery. According to him, such an operation will provoke a reaction both in the Arab world and among the countries of the European Union, which will oppose the further escalation of the conflict and the humanitarian crisis.

"The main difficulties for the army are the underground infrastructure of Hamas, the threat of ambushes and drone strikes, as well as the need to distinguish militants from civilians. Freeing possible hostages is also not an easy task, especially since it is possible that many hostages will die during a ground operation or during the operation as a whole," said Brije.

In addition, the political scientist added that Iran's intervention is unlikely, as Tehran is focused on solving its internal problems. Nevertheless, his reaction has already manifested itself in harsh rhetoric and pressure through allied structures.
