In Benin, at least 27 people died as a result of a bus crash into the Ueme River. This was reported by Barron's on August 19.

"The bus operated by STM departed from the neighboring capital of Togo, Lomé, with 52 passengers on board," the article says.

According to preliminary data, the driver lost control, which caused the bus to fall into the river.

It is noted that there are three minors among the dead. Nine more people were taken to a medical facility in stable condition. An unnamed civil defense official clarified that the search for 16 more people is ongoing.

Earlier, on August 16, in the Chinese city of Rongcheng, six people were killed and two more were missing as a result of a minibus crash into the sea. It was clarified that the incident occurred on Saturday morning, August 16, when a minibus with workers was leaving the port.
