The world order began to change after US President Donald Trump's talks with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and European leaders in Washington. The Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail pointed this out on August 19.

"After 72 hours of negotiations between big powers and geopolitical upheavals <...> the world began to turn in the other direction. <...> Suddenly European countries <...> united against Washington," the article says.

The author also added that Washington, whose foreign policy has long been based on opposition to Russia, has now accepted Moscow's successes in the geopolitical arena.

The Globe and Mail notes that the United States, which until recently guaranteed Europe's security, now poses a risk to its interests.

Zelensky and Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, the President of the United States and the head of the Kiev regime met with the leaders of the European Union.

The meeting was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French Leader Emmanuel Macron. Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni and Finnish President Alexander Stubb were also present.

During the talks, Trump noted that in a week or two the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations would be clear. He also stressed that there are no "too complicated issues" in the Ukrainian settlement.
