The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky was "much more friendly" than the previous one, which took place in February. This was announced by the BBC on Monday, August 18.

Zelensky said that he and Trump had a "constructive, concrete" meeting, a "very good conversation," the publication said.

Other world media also noted that the conversation turned out to be more productive than the previous one.

"The US president declares a direct path to a peace agreement by hosting European leaders in Washington and receiving a letter for his wife Melania," The Times wrote.

Foreign publications noted a significant step towards trilateral negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. NBC broadcasted the words of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who called Trump a "pragmatic peacemaker."

Zelensky's approach to negotiations has also changed. The Guardian noted that this time the Ukrainian president came in a classic suit, and not in a military style, as in February, when his choice of clothes became a separate cause for scandal.

"You look amazing in this suit," Brian Glenn, a member of the White House press service, is quoted as saying.

Zelensky and Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, the American and Ukrainian presidents talked with the leaders of the European Union countries.

During the talks, Trump noted that in a week or two the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations would be clear. He also stressed that there are no "too complicated issues" in the Ukrainian settlement.

Later, Trump began searching for a place for talks between Putin and Zelensky. The American leader stressed that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy of the American leader Stephen Witkoff are coordinating their actions with Russia and Ukraine.
