The death toll in the emergency in the Ryazan region has reached 24 people.
The death toll from an explosion in the powder magazine of the Elastik plant for the production of synthetic fibers, located in the village of Lesnoy in the Shilovsky district of the Ryazan region, has increased to 24 people. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this on August 18.
"Currently, the total number of injured is 157 people, 24 of them died," the agency told TASS.
It is specified that during the dismantling of the rubble, another body was discovered and extracted.
An emergency at an enterprise in the Ryazan region occurred on August 15. The regional authorities have set up a headquarters to eliminate the consequences. A criminal case was opened into the incident. Monday, August 18, has been declared a day of mourning for the victims in the Ryazan region.
On August 16, the governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, announced that due to the incident in the Shilovsky district, payments would be made: 1 million 567 thousand rubles to the families of the victims, from 313 thousand to 627 thousand rubles to the injured (depending on the injury caused). According to him, financial assistance in the amount of 15 thousand rubles can be provided to residents of the village of Lesnoy.
