The cause of the mass poisoning of children in a camp in the Republic of Bashkortostan was a norovirus infection. This was announced on August 18 by the press service of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

"The PCR results revealed a norovirus infection in the biological material of a food store employee, which could have infected children," the department's Telegram channel said.

They added that work on laboratory testing is currently underway. The situation is under the control of Rospotrebnadzor.

The poisoning of 22 children in a children's camp in the Sterlibashevsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan became known earlier that day. It was clarified that after examination and assistance, nine people were released home. Another 16 people were hospitalized. Their condition is assessed as moderate, and the patients' well-being is improving. A criminal case was later opened into the incident.
